The National Kidney Registry Welcomes Froedtert Hospital as a Microsite Center of Excellence

The National Kidney Registry (NKR) is proud to welcome Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as its 30th Microsite Center of Excellence (MCE), honoring the transplant center’s outstanding success in using the NKR’s Microsite Program to help patients find living kidney donors.

The NKR created the MCE program to establish a set of best practices for microsite use, provide training resources to help transplant centers optimize microsite use, and improve donor recruitment and patient outcomes.

To earn the MCE designation, centers must achieve at least 20% waitlist enrollment in microsites, maintain a donor conversion rate of at least 5%, and facilitate at least 10 living donor transplants through microsites within the previous 12 months.

“We’re excited to recognize Froedtert Hospital as a Microsite Center of Excellence,” said Timothy Jagemann, NKR Director of Marketing and Microsite Product Manager. “This designation reflects the transplant team’s commitment to using the Microsite Program to help kidney patients expand their donor search, connect with potential living donors, and ultimately receive a life-saving transplant.”

The NKR Microsite Program provides kidney transplant candidates with a free personalized website and one-on-one coaching to help them share their story and connect with potential living donors. Patients also receive free business cards, posters, and other outreach materials to support their donor search.

More than 1,476 microsite patients have now received a living donor transplant through the program. Every patient who activates a microsite can be paired with an experienced donor search coach who provides guidance throughout the donor search process.

About Find A Kidney

Living donor kidney transplants last longer than deceased donor transplants, yet of the approximately 18,000 kidney transplants performed each year in the United States, only about 6,000 are from living donors. Find A Kidney aims to change that by giving kidney patients the tools, education, and support they need to find a living donor.
