The National Kidney Registry (NKR) is pleased to welcome its newest microsite center: Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford in Palo Alto, California. A total of 67 transplant centers nationwide now participate in the NKR’s Microsite Program.
The addition of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford strengthens the NKR’s commitment to supporting pediatric transplant programs and helping children with kidney failure access living kidney donor transplants. Through partnerships with children’s hospitals across the country, the NKR is working to ensure that pediatric patients and their families have the resources and support needed to begin their living donor search.
The Microsite Program provides free websites and coaching to transplant patients seeking a living donor to increase their chances of achieving a living donor transplant. To date, more than 1,488 microsite patients have received a living donor transplant.
“Helping pediatric patients find living kidney donors is a priority for the NKR, and we’re committed to providing children’s hospitals with the tools and support they need to expand access to living donor transplantation,” said Timothy Jagemann, NKR Director of Marketing and Microsite Product Manager. “Through the Microsite Program, we hope to empower even more children and their families to share their stories, raise awareness, and find a living kidney donor.”
The Microsite Program is supported by six donor search coaches who are available to all patients who activate a microsite. Donor search coaches are experts at running successful donor search campaigns, either for themselves or someone else.
