National Kidney Registry Launches New Donor Education Videos on Patient Microsites

The National Kidney Registry (NKR) is pleased to announce that all kidney patient microsites now include three animated videos designed to help potential living kidney donors better understand the donation process.

The videos include:

  • Donating on Behalf of a Microsite Patient – an overview of how the microsite program works and how donors can donate for a specific patient
  • What is Donor Shield – a summary of the support and protections available to living kidney donors, including reimbursement of lost wages and donation-related travel and dependent care costs
  • What is the Standard Voucher Program – an explanation of how a donor can help their intended recipient even if they are not medically compatible

These videos, which are available in both English and Spanish, are designed to help potential donors understand key aspects of living kidney donation and decide whether it’s right for them.

“Simplifying the donor experience and providing information about the process is essential to encouraging more living donations,” said Samantha Hil, NKR’s Vice President of Marketing and Microsite Product Manager. “We continue to update our patient microsites to meet the needs of both patients and donors. Adding these videos gives prospective donors immediate access to important information about donation options and the protections available to them.”

About Find A Kidney

Living kidney donor transplants last longer than deceased donor transplants, yet of the 18,000 annual kidney transplants, only 6,000 are from living donors. Find A Kidney aims to end that imbalance by giving kidney patients the tools and information they need to find a living donor.
