After 10 years on dialysis, and just days after the story of her long wait for a transplant was featured on “CBS Sunday Morning,” LaQuayia “LQ” Goldring, 35, has a new kidney.

Slipping out after a black tie event, the Leidos president of defense climbed into his sedan and prepared to drive home. But a bumper sticker on the car in front of him caught his eye. It said, “Help, kidney needed . . . blood type O-negative.”

In August, Jonathan Donnelly was diagnosed with Stage Five kidney disease and was told he’d need to go on dialysis. Nearly a year later, Donnelly’s dreams came true, as he received a kidney from his boss’s wife.

A North Charleston officer reconnected with his kidney donor Thursday morning to share the emotional and life-changing impact the experience had on both of them.
