Do I Need a Separate Microsite for Each Center Where I’m Registered?

Yaredly Hernandez, Lead Donor Search Coach

If you are working with a transplant center that participates in the National Kidney Registry’s Microsite Program, you may be wondering whether you need a different microsite for each transplant center where you’re registered. The short answer is no: you only need one microsite. Here’s why.

When you create a microsite, it functions as a universal hub for your donor search. It’s live across the entire United States, meaning any potential donor, no matter where they are, can see your story and register as a potential donor.

When potential donors register through your microsite, they choose their own transplant center: they can be evaluated at any NKR center in the country. Because your microsite can connect donors to any center, there’s no need to create a separate site for each hospital you’re registered with.

What really increases your chances of finding a living donor isn’t multiple microsites—it’s how widely you share the one you have. Post it on social media, include it in emails, share it at community events, and hand out the 250 business cards that come with your microsite. The more people who see your story, the more likely a donor will step forward.
